Brand creation for Apollo Distribution Solutions
Background
Apollo Distribution Solutions was established in Yorkshire in 1993 by David Mills.
Since then they have gone from strength to strength, increasing the size of their fleet, the number of staff and, in 2012, moved to larger premises. They offer same day and dedicated delivery services and are Sheffield’s only FORS Silver accredited same day courier.
The requirement
In July 2019 managing director, David Mills, contacted me through a referral. David required a promotional leaflet to give to potential customers that quickly informs them of the range of services available from Apollo.
The solution
Upon meeting David, to formulate a design brief, it became clear that the tone of the proposed marketing solution had to be direct.
After researching the industry I established a unique character driven brand style unashamedly linked to the Apollo Space Program. The Program is celebrating it’s 50th anniversary this year with a huge amount of press coverage. Therefore it made sense to “piggyback” on this popularity. In addition, the brand style is fun with a “no-nonsense” tone of voice that focusses on the organisation’s strengths.
During the design process I usually prepare a fall back option, (in case my primary proposal is off target). However, on this occasion, I was so convinced that this was the right approach for Apollo that I invested all my time in crafting this one solution.
As convinced as I was – it was still a relief when the concept was met with unanimous approval. Upon seeing the concept design David said; “I had no idea what I wanted or what to expect but this is exactly what I need”.
The concept has rolled out to an eight page information leaflet, stationery and pull up banners with flyers and press advertisements due to follow.
